According to Bangkok Post, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) in Thailand is studying to make it possible to use the 920 MHz band wireless communication for the IoT platform without license, and the policy announcement is planning in June 2017.
Including “LoRa” and “sigfox” of LPWA showing worldwide spread, the energy harvesting wireless technology “EnOcean” proven in Europe and “Wi-SUN” used in Japan’s smart meter are also 920 MHz. If wireless usage in 920 MHz band becomes possible there is no doubt that spread of IoT in Thailand will be accelerated.
